About the Artist

Margaret was born and raised in Charleston, SC.  Foreshadowing things to come, she sold her first painting in the third grade to her teacher. She attended the SC Governor's School for the Arts, in high school, and continued her arts education at Wake Forest, graduating with a minor in Studio Art.
After moving back to her hometown, she tried her hand at launching an oil painting career.  She made it as far as hosting a solo exhibit at the Historic Charleston Foundation during Charleston's French Quarter Art Walk, before marrying and moving to Missouri.
Three daughters later and back in Charleston, and , she began drawing pencil portraits. After another move, and another daughter- adopted from Albania- she picked up her pencils again, but this time with a longing to work in color. A Charleston workshop opened her eyes the wonders of soft pastels, and she hasn't looked back!

Margaret is inspired by anything organic or assymmetrical- such as still lifes, scenery and faces.  Subject matter close to her heart are her Christian faith and the Albanian people, culture and landscape.
